In order to take your poker game to the next level it is vitally important you learn all the nuances of the game.
Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? Do you know how to play preflop, flop, turn & river effectively and how should your poker strategy change depending on the street? What difference does it make if you are playing multi-way vs heads-up?
Whenever you flop quads it is always a double edged sword. It’s music to your ears as you are likely to have a lock on the poker hand but the difficulty is trying to get a lot of money into the pot as generally your opponent’s will not have a strong poker hand. But what about if they have pocket aces and then they turn a boat? You are very likely to get all of their money!
Jonathan discusses why you should generally flat call a raise preflop with medium strengthened pocket pairs because if you opt to 3-bet and then end up facing a 4-bet it can be miserable and very hard to navigate.
Punnat should generally feel very comfortable on the 886r flop with his pocket aces. He blocks all of the A8 suited hands and realistically Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates should not really have many other poker hands containing an 8.
This poker hand history took place during the 2022 Triton Poker Cash Game in Cyprus at the luxurious Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Casino North Cyprus. This high stakes cash game had blinds of $1,000/$2,000/$4,000 with most players sitting over $300,000 deep.
The action heats up pre-flop when Heung Wayne raises to $9,000 with KThh, Dan Cates calls with 88, and Punnat Punsri decides to 3bet to $54,000 with the best starting hand in hold’em – pocket aces. Heung Wayne folds but Dan Cates decides to call. Heading to the flop the pot was at a hefty $125,000, and the flop brought an exciting turn of events as the 8d 8h 6c landed which gave Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates quad eights. Punnat Punsri bets $44,000 and Dan Cates starts to set the trap by just calling.
With the pot now at $213,000 the turn reveals the ace of diamonds giving Punsri a full house. Punnat Punsri checks, and Dan Cates bets $77,000. Punnat Punsri, who now thinks he is trapping just decides to call, and the pot grows to $367,000. The river brings an inconsequential 5 of diamonds, and Punnat Punsri checks once again. Dan Cates decides to wager all of his chips and moves all in for $236,000 and Punnat Punsri snap calls. The pot reaches a massive $839,000 and Punsri is delivered the bad news as Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates reveals his quad eights and the entire poker table is in shock when Punsri shows his aces full.

In this poker hand history, the hand starts with under the gun straddling. It folds to Villain 1 who calls from the small blind, Jaman completes his option, and Villain 2 checks from the UTG. Heading to the flop, the community cards reveal Ad 6h 2c. Villain 1 checks, and Jaman decides to bet $20, which prompts under the gun to call and the small blind gets out of the way. The turn card is Kc, and Jaman decides to slow down and check behind after the small blind checks. On the river, an 8d appears, and Jaman bets around half pot with just 5 high which forces a fold from the small blind and Jaman drags in the $100 pot.

This live poker stream from the Hustler Casino in Los Angeles had an incredible lineup that featured; MrBeast, Ninja, Alexandra Botez, Ludwig, xQc, Slime, Tom Dwan, Phil Hellmuth & poker fan favorite Alan Keating! As to be expected, the pots were huge and the play was wild!
In this particular hand MrBeast attempts to take on Alan Keating and finds himself rivering quad queens! Can he find a way to extract value against Alan Keating’s relatively weak holding?
Jonathan discusses how Alan has a perfect hand to potentially use as a check-raise bluff on the flop as he has many backdoor draws. There would be lots of turn cards that Alan could use to continue telling his story if he were to check-raise on the flop.
Jimmy Donaldson known as MrBeast is a 24 year old American YouTuber and philanthropist. He is credited with pioneering a genre of YouTube videos that centers on expensive stunts and huge giveaways. His YouTube channel has over 146 million subscribers.
Alan Keating is a well known high stakes cash game player often playing in the biggest poker cash games around the world, he has become more of a regular on the Hustler Casino Live stream and recently played the biggest pot ever on the show of almost $1,200,000!
In this poker cash game hand from the Hustler Casino Live stream we have Slime who is under the gun with Kd2s, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson with pocket queens in under the gun+1, Tom Dwan in the hijack with 94cc & Alan Keating in the big blind with 86cc. The blinds were set at $100/$200 with a $200 big blind ante, and there was a triple straddle in play for $1,600 by YouTube influencer Ludwig. Dawn starts with open limping which causes Alan and Slime to complete before MrBeast decides to bump it up to $5,000 to which all of the players call. The flop comes Qc 7d 6h, and MrBeast fires a bet of $5,000 with his top set. Tom decides to fold, Alan calls, and Slime folds, leaving just Alan Keating and MrBeast in the poker hand as the pot grows to $31,900. The turn is the 4s, and MrBeast continues to put the pressure on with a bet of $10,000, which Alan decides to call. The pot now stands at $51,900 as we head to the river, which reveals Qd. MrBeast has now hit quads! Alan checks again, and MrBeast makes a much larger bet of $40,000. After much deliberation Alan decides to make the call with his bluff catcher only to see the bad news as the $130,900 pot is pushed in MrBeast’s direction to help fund his next YouTube viral video!

Jaman ‘The Drawing Dead’ Burton is one of my favorite poker vloggers and in this hand from the Bellagio Poker room in Las Vegas he decides to get completely out of line as he decides to try to bluff his opponent with just 5-high!
Both Jonathan and Jaman give their advice on how they manage to pull off successful bluffs and they both have very different techniques, which is your favorite?
On flops that do not have very obvious draws you have to try and find draws that still have good equity. A gutshot and a backdoor flush draw is a perfect candidate to use as part of your bluffing range which is exactly what Jaman does in this hand on the flop after the pot is limped preflop and there has been no aggressive action so far.
It is important that during a poker hand you are trying to narrow your opponent’s range of hands. Jaman received some information preflop as the small blind nor the straddle decided to raise which means they are less likely to have an ace in their range.
When you are bluffing and you pick up equity on the turn you should generally continue to barrel, especially if the turn card could potentially help your range more than your opponent’s.

This live poker stream from the Hustler Casino Live was great fun to watch. For the first time in history, Magnus Carlsen, the number 1 ranked chess player in the world made his poker stream debut and played some incredible hands! In this particular hand he faced off against Alexandra Botez, another grandmaster in Chess. Mariano, the popular poker vlogger, was also in there battling and somehow managed to maintain an 87% VPIP throughout this 6-hour live poker stream, which is an insane poker stat, to say the least.
Jonathan discusses how you can and should adjust preflop raise sizes according to the game that you are playing in as well as the effective stack depth. If you have deeper stacks you can generally raise using a larger size.
He also agrees with Magnus’ strategy to triple barrel bluff when he turns a pair. You generally want to have a hand that can block your opponent’s from having an extremely strong poker hand.
Magnus Carlsen is currently the highest-ranked chess player in the world and arguably the greatest of all time. He is from Norway and is 32 years old, he has been a grandmaster since he was 14. He is the reigning five-time World Chess Champion, four-time World Rapid Chess Champion, and six-time World Blitz Chess Champion. Carlsen has held the No. 1 position in the FIDE world chess rankings since 1 July 2011. He also has a YouTube channel which has 957,000 subscribers.
Alexandra Botez is 27 year old grandmaster from Texas, she became a five-time Canadian National Girls Champion and won the U.S. Girls Nationals at age 15. She has appeared on the Hustler Casino Live stream before with MrBeast, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan and Alan Keating where she won over $500,000. She has 1,127,000 YouTube subscribers.
Mariano is a professional poker player and poker vlogger from America. He is a regular on the Hustler Casino Live stream hosting his own $25/$50 game. He has a popular poker YouTube channel with 129,000 subscribers.
It is important to note that the table was playing the seven-deuce(72o) game. If a player wins a poker hand with 72o then everyone else at the poker table would owe them $100.
This poker hand starts with Magnus Carlsen raising to $125 with 7c2d from under the gun. He picks up calls from Alexandra Botez, Bryce Hall, Nate Hill & popular poker vlogger Mariano. The flop comes the As Th 5d and Magnus continues his story with an almost pot sized bet of $500. This does not deter Botez, Bryce & Mariano as all 3 players call with a piece of that board. The turn is 7h and Magnus does not slow down and fire’s another chunky bet, this time for $1,700. Botez who has now hit two pair decides to call and Mariano makes an ambitious call with his bottom pair. The river is 7s. Magnus who now believes he has the best hand decides to bet $4,100 and Botez raises all-in to $5,270. Magnus is shocked to see Botez reveal her full house which gives her the entire $15,925 pot.

This high stakes poker heads up match between Matt Berkey and Nik Airball has taken the poker world by storm. There are not many feuds in the poker community that end up in a heads up match but these two have decided to put their money where their mouth is and are battling it out at The Resorts World Poker Room in Las Vegas.
After three days of play the heads up match is extremely close with Solve4Why’s Matt Berkey winning just over $30,000. The two are due to play for 100 hours in total and are now about 20% of the way through the match.
The terms for the heads up match are as follows:
– $200/$400 (400) at Resorts World in Las Vegas
– $100,000 min, no max
– 3 sessions each week with 6.5hrs per session
– The match will last 100 hours
– Either player can quit if they end up down more than $1,000,000
– $10,000 penalty for a missed session or quitting early
This poker hand was played at The Resorts World private poker room in Las Vegas. They are playing over $270,000 deep at $200/$400. Matt Berkey raises on the button to $1,000 with 66 and Nik Airball decides to 3bet to $5,000 with QJhh and Matt Berkey defends. The flop comes K63xcc and Airball continues his aggression with a 33% bet on the flop to which Berkey calls. The turn is the Ad and Airball decides to size up using a pot sized bet on the turn. This does not deter Berkey who decides to continue by calling. The river is a beautiful card for Airball as it comes the Ts which gives him the stone cold nuts. Airball decides to use an extremely polarizing bet size as he shoves for 5x pot! Berkey cannot find the fold and calls off his stack with his set and loses the $550,000 pot!
