WPH #518: INSANE READ By Charlie Carrel!!!!!

Charlie Carrel prides himself on his ability to make exceptional live reads. In this hand on PokerGO’s Game of Gold he was heads-up against twitch streamer Lukas Robinson. When they both ended up on the river with just queen-high, will Charlie be able to sniff out the bluff by Lukas?

When you flop a flush draw heads-up that isn’t the nut flush draw, it is usually a good idea to bet, because not only do you get your opponent to fold hands that have some equity, but you also begin to build the pot for when you do hit your flush.

Charlie Carrel “Epiphany77” is a professional poker player from England and has over $9,600,000 in live tournament earnings with his biggest cash of £1,600,000 coming at a Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London in a £50,000 tournament. Charlie is a strong believer in live reads & live tells at the poker table and regularly explains his decision-making based on them. He is widely known to be against the Game Theory Optimal (GTO) approach to poker, often saying ‘F#&K GTO’ in his YouTube videos. Instead, he focuses on exploitable poker strategies. Charlie’s big break came in 2014 when he took down the PokerStars Sunday Million for over $200,000. He is good friends with high-stakes tournament poker player Ben Heath.

Lukas Robinson “RobinPoker” is a professional poker player from England. He has over $50,000 in live tournament earnings. He is known for being the first PokerNews ambassador, a role that sees him streaming online poker on Twitch. He made a name for himself in 2021 when he became the first poker player to stream his poker sessions for over 1,000 hours across 100 consecutive days.

Filmed in Seoul, South Korea and hosted by experienced poker broadcaster Ali Nejad, Game of Gold combines high stakes poker with survival reality TV. Over the course of the 12 episodes, the sixteen participants competed across various poker formats, including Sit & Go’s, Heads-Up games, Indian Poker and a standard tournament poker game.

The poker players on the show included Daniel Negreanu “KidPoker”, Jason Koon, Fedor Holz “CrownUpGuy”, Kevin Martin, Kyna England, Josh Arieh, Daniel Cates “Jungleman”, Lukas Robinson “RobinPoker”, Nikita Luther, Charlie Carrel “Epiphany77”, Johan Guilbert “YoH ViraL”, Olga Iermolcheva, David Williams, Andy Tsai “Andy Stacks”, Michael Soyza, and Maria Ho.

Round 2 was the heads-up team battle part of the show – There were 4 teams with three players on each team. After one match, the losing team would put up their next poker player. After one team had lost 3 matches they would be eliminated to the losers bracket with the winning team advancing to the winners bracket. The 3 players on the losing team from the losers bracket would be eliminated from the show.

The final six players competed in a winner-take-all format Sit & Go (SNG). This was unique as it meant there was no Independent Chip Model (ICM) pressure on any of the poker players.

Game of Gold Results

1st: Maria Ho – U.S.A – $456,000 2nd: Daniel Cates ‘Jungleman’ – U.S.A – $0 3rd: Johan Guilbert ‘Yoh Viral’ – France – $0 4th: Fedor Holz ‘CrownUpGuy’ – Germany – $0 5th: Kyna England – U.S.A – $0 6th: Josh Arieh – U.S.A – $0

🔍 Preflop: With blinds at 20,000/40,000, Charlie Carrel calls with Q8 of clubs, and Lukas Robinson checks his option with Q2o from the big blind, which is the button in heads-up play.

💸 Flop – 9c 4c 3h: The nine-high flop offers no assistance to either player. After both poker pros check, they head to the turn.

💣 Turn – 7s: The 7 of spades on the turn completes the badugi board, but once again neither player fires and they both check with queen-high.

🌊 River – 5h: The 5 of hearts on the river completes a four-card straight. This time Robinson decides to overbet for 100,000 into the 80,000 pot. Carrel prides himself on his live reads, but can he find the correct call here? Or will Robinons’ huge bluff get through? Stay to the end of this poker video to find out!

Remember, success in poker is about constantly learning and evolving. Playing on a final table can seem extremely daunting at first, but the more you familiarize yourself with the situation, the easier it will become!

Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? WPH #517: HEADS-UP For $230,000!! [Jonathan Little vs Alex Foxen]

Jonathan Little was on the cusp of winning the trophy at a $10,000 buy-in PokerGO Cup event, with only one player standing in his way. That player happened to be Alex Foxen, currently one of the most decorated tournament players in the world. As the stacks dwindled and fewer big blinds remained in play, Little would have to put on a preflop masterclass to unsettle his opponent and take home the title!

When playing heads-up in a tournament, it is important to be aware of whether there is a big blind ante (BBA). With a BBA in place, the small blind has to put in an extra 0.5 big blinds to win 3 big blinds, meaning that the small blind should be playing 100% of their hands.

Jonathan Little ‘FieryJustice’,’Jcardshark’, ‘JonLittle’ is in the top 150 on the all time money list with over $8,800,000 in total live earnings. He has 2 World Poker Tour (WPT) titles, both of which were for over $1,000,000. He won the WPT Season VI (2007-2008) Player of the Year award. Jonathan is a 38 year old professional poker player from the U.S.A. He is also the founder of PokerCoaching.com.

Alex Foxen ‘bigfox86’ is a 32-year-old American professional poker player and is a regular at the highest stakes poker tournaments in the world. He has over $32,000,000 in live tournament earnings putting him in the top 20 on the all time money list. He has 1 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelet from the 2022 $250,000 No Limit Hold’em – Super High Roller for $4,563,700.

The PokerGo Cup was a series of eight No-Limit Hold’em poker tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $10,000 – $25,000 played from January 25 to February 3, 2024 and held inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

$10,000 – 2024 PokerGO Cup Event #3 – Results

1st: Jonathan Little U.S.A – $229,500 2nd: Alex Foxen ‘bigfox86’- U.S.A – $148,750 3rd: Dan Shak – U.S.A – $106,250 4th: Jesse Lonis ‘Dangerous22’ – U.S.A – $76,500 5th: Daniel Weinand – Canada – $59,500 6th: Brock Wilson ‘HelloMyMan’– U.S.A – $42,500 7th: Daniel Negreanu ‘Dnegs’, ‘KidPoker’ – Canada – $34,000

🔍 Hand 1 Preflop: With blinds at 75,000/150,000 and a 150,000 big blind ante, Alex Foxen is first to act on the button, or small blind in heads-up play. He opens to 375,000 with K9 of clubs. Jonathan Little looks down at AQo in the big blind and raises to 4,050,000, which is enough to put Foxen all-in. Foxen folds his suited king, and Little drags in the pot uncontested.

🔍 Hand 2 Preflop: The blinds are now 100,000/200,000 with a 200,000 big blind ante. Jonathan Little starts by raising from the button to 2,475,000 with KTo. The raise is enough to put Alex Foxen all-in. He looks down at K2o and calls to put his tournament life at risk.

💸 Flop – 8c 7d 6s: The connected flop is great for Little, who picks up a gutshot straight draw. Foxen needs to hit a deuce or some kind of running board pair to split the pot and stay alive in the tournament.

💣 Turn – 8s: A board-pairing 8 of spades on the turn means that Foxen can chop the pot with a seven or six on the river. Little, on the other hand, will be hoping that one of these cards or a deuce doesn’t come, so that he can lift the trophy and take home the lion’s share of the prize pool.

🌊 River – Want to find out if Little manages to hold with his king-high and win this PokerGO Cup event? Then stay tuned to the end of this poker video!

WPH #516: Has He LOST His MIND????

During the Million Dollar Game on Hustler Casino Live, Hook and Texas Mike were involved in a pot worth over $1,000,000. We follow this crazy hand from Hook’s perspective after he gets check-raised all-in on the river while holding a straight! But what does Texas Mike have & what will Hook do?

When you are raised on the flop or turn while holding the nuts, it is generally best to just call against most opponents. A 3-bet can telegraph incredible strength and will often result in your opponent making big folds or giving up on their bluffs. Calling with some nutted hands is a good way to balance your range in these situations.

Charles Hook is an American poker player from Philadelphia, USA, who currently resides in Houston, Texas. He is a regular in some of the highest-stakes cash games in the world, both live and online. Hook has over $925,000 in live tournament earnings with his biggest cash of $216,814 coming at the $111,111 Big One For One Drop at the World Series of Poker for $216,814.. He also has WSOP Circuit rings. Since 2023, Mike has played in over 7 live streamed cash games and has lost over $2,000,000.

Hustler Casino Live is a full-scale, high-value poker production. Close to a million dollars was spent transforming the casino’s high-limit poker room, the Crystal Room, into the set of this new state-of-the-art live poker show. Hustler Casino Live looks more like coverage of a TV broadcast sporting event and appeals to those beyond the poker community. Unscripted and unedited, they host regular poker streams such as ‘Max Pain Monday’ and ‘Thirsty Thursday’. Some of the most notable poker players to have appeared on the show are Phil Ivey ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’ ‘RaiseOnce’, Tom Dwan ’durrrr’, Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Chris Moneymaker, Doug Polk ‘WCGRider, Garrett Adelstein ‘Gman’, Tony Guoga ‘Tony G’ and many more.

This was from the first day of the 2024 edition of the highly anticipated Million Dollar Game, which had a $1,000,000 minimum buy-in. The players included: Doug Polk, Tom Dwan, Alan Keating, Santhosh Suvarna, Peter, Hook, Brandon Steven, Stanley, Rahul, Steve, Texas Mike, Rahul, and a mysterious guest called Thomas.

🔍 Preflop: With the $2,000 straddle on, Hook raises to $6,000 from under-the-gun+1 with 87 of clubs. Handz calls from the cutoff with T9 of clubs, and Texas Mike defends his under-the-gun straddle with a mystery hand.

💸 Flop – As 5h 4c: Texas Mike checks with his mystery hand. Hook has flopped a gutshot straight draw to the nuts and a backdoor flush draw. He decides to continuation bet for $5,000. Handz folds his suited connector, but Texas Mike makes the call.

💣 Turn – 6s: Texas Mike checks again on the 6 of spades turn. Hook has turned the nut straight and fires a second bullet of $16,000. Mike chooses to check-raise to $52,000 with his mystery hand. Hook opts to just smooth call the raise and they head to the river.

🌊 River – Ah: Texas Mike checks on the A of hearts river. Hook now loses to any full house; however, he goes for some value with his straight and overbets for $160,000. Texas Mike then check-raises to $734,000, putting Hook all-in. What does Texas Mike have here, and will Hook call or fold? Stay tuned to the end of this poker video to find out!

WPH #515: Rampage Poker HATES Money! [INSANE Punt]

Punting for Rampage Poker seems to be a common occurrence when he plays high stakes poker on the Hustler Casino Live stream. In this hand, he played a massive pot against businessman Brandon Steven, who rivered a flush and faced a massive raise from the poker vlogger. Was this a typical Rampage punt or did he find a masterful bluff? You decide!

When you are in the small blind or big blind with a straddle on, it’s crucial to remember to raise bigger than you usually would. This aims to maximize fold equity due to the fact that you’ll be out of position for the entire hand.

Ethan Yau, a.k.a Rampage, is a popular YouTuber and poker player. He has over 300,000 subscribers on YouTube and has won over $2,40,000 in tournament earnings, including a $900,000 win in a December 2022 World Poker Tour (WPT) High Roller at the Wynn.

🔍 Preflop: With an $800 straddle on Brandon Steven looks down at 42 of diamonds in the big blind and raises to $2,300. Rampage Poker, the player in the straddle, 3-bets to $7,000 with AJo, and Steven calls with his low-suited one-gapper.

💸 Flop – Ks Td 9d: The king-high connected flop doesn’t give either player a pair, but it does give them both draws. Steven checks with his flush draw, while Rampage fires a continuation bet of $6,000 with a gutshot straight draw to the nuts and an overcard. Steven calls, and they head to the turn.

💣 Turn – 6h: The 6 of hearts on the turn doesn’t improve Steven or Rampage’s hand. Both the high-stakes cash game players check, and they head to the river.

🌊 River – Qd: The Q of diamonds river completes both players’ draws. Steven now has a four-high flush, while Rampage has a broadway straight. Steven decides to lead out for $23,000. Rampage then raises to $128,900 with his straight, enough to put Steven all-in. But will Steven lay down his baby flush? Stay tuned for this entire poker video to find out!

WPH #514: CRAZY READ By Daniel NEGREANU!!!!!!!!!

Daniel Negreanu has built his huge bankroll around making thousands of mind-boggling calls and folds on the felt. He is known to be able to read situations perfectly and will often call out his opponent’s exact holdings! In this hand, only Kristen Foxen stood between him and another PokerGo title. Could Negreanu use all of his experience to make an insane read and lay down a monster hand on the river?

When playing against strong, competent opponents, you should be careful about betting too thin for value when your opponent can often have the nuts in their range. Strong poker players will recognize this and will find these situations and may bluff you off your marginal holdings.

Daniel Negreanu ‘DNegs’ or ‘KidPoker’ is in the top 8 on the poker all time money list with over $52,000,000 in total live earnings. He has 6 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. Negreanu is 49 years old and originally from Toronto, Canada but resides in Las Vegas, U.S.A. Negreanu grew up playing primarily cash games and has appeared on many popular poker shows such as High Stakes Poker, High Stakes Feud, Poker After Dark, and High Stakes Duel (he won the most recent season, beating Eric Persson and Doug Polk and claiming $200,000 as well as the championship belt). Daniel is now a GGPoker ambassador after leaving PokerStars where he was an ambassador for nearly 12 years.

Kristen Foxen ‘krissyb24’ is a Canadian professional poker player with over $7,500,000 in live tournament earnings. She has 2 WSOP bracelets, her first came from the $1,500 6-Max No-Limit Hold’em Bounty in 2016, and her second was from the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max in 2020.

The PGT Kickoff series was a series of six $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em poker tournaments played from January 2-7, 2024, and was hosted at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

🔍 Preflop: During heads-up play in this PokerGO Tour event, Daniel Negreanu limps in with QJ of diamonds from the button, which is also the small blind when playing heads-up. Kristen Foxen decides to check with K2o from the big blind, and they both head to a flop.

💸 Flop – Ad Jc Tc: Foxen flops a gutshot straight draw to broadway on this wet & connected flop. After she checks, Negreanu bets 60,000 with his second pair, a gutshot straight draw, and a backdoor flush draw. Foxen sticks around with a call, and they head to the turn.

💣 Turn – Qh The Q of hearts on the turn is disastrous for Negreanu as he improves to two pair while Foxen improves to an ace-high straight. Both players check, and they head to a river.

🌊 River – 5s The 5 of spades on the river doesn’t bring in the front door flush. Foxen now looks to get some value from the nuts as she fires out a bet of 250,000 into the 300,000 pot. Negreanu begins to think out loud, giving a rare insight into what goes on in the mind of a poker wizard. Will he be able to get away from a disguised two pair after playing the hand so cautiously? Stay tuned to the end of this poker video to see if he folds or calls!
