STOP Doing THIS With Suited Connectors! | A Little Poker with Jonathan Little 5-20-2024

In the world of Texas Hold’em, mastering the strategic play of suited connectors can pose a considerable challenge! Despite being one of the prettiest hands in poker, it’s important to understand the intricacies of suited connectors and avoid the temptation to underplay or overplay each and every situation!

In this live poker webinar, PokerCoaching founder and head coach, Jonathan Little, is here to give you a deep understanding of some of the biggest mistakes you MUST avoid when playing your suited connectors!

One of the main complications that arises with suited connectors is the wide range of situations you may find yourself encountering at the poker table, both preflop, flop, turn & river! Due to the inherent nature of being very draw-heavy, both suited and connected, the complexity of suited connectors can quickly start to stack up!

As a result, there is no one-size-fits-all scenario, and being able to adapt on the fly is critical. Failure to take into account essential variables, including stack sizes, potential draws, table position, and the tendencies of opponents can lead to costly errors that will significantly impact your profit at the poker tables!

Mastering the art of playing suited connectors is fundamentally about recognizing the situations to avoid. The allure of suited connectors, with their aesthetically pleasing potential, can make folding that much harder. Remember to be patient and stay disciplined!

In order to take your poker game to the next level it is vitally important you learn all the nuances of the game.

Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? Do you know how to play preflop, flop, turn & river effectively and how should your poker strategy change depending on the street? What difference does it make if you are playing multi-way vs heads-up?

WPH #512: HUGE Cooler With $315,000 For 1st!

David Peters, a master at getting value from his strong hands against any calibre of poker player, showcased his skills during a high stakes tournament at the PokerGO studio in Las Vegas. Peters has already guaranteed himself a podium finish when he decides to get involved in a huge pot against the chip leader, Kristen Foxen. Will Peters be able to extract maximum value with top two pair against one of the best female poker players in the business?

When you are trying to emulate Game Theory Optimal (GTO), you should be choosing to 3-bet from the big blind with many off-suit hands that contain a high and a low card, especially when the stacks are around 30 big blinds effective. They perform better as 3-bets than calls, allowing you to apply significant Independent Chip Model (ICM) pressure on your opponents who will generally have a wide range if they have opened from late position.

David Peters ‘SilentAssassin’ is a 36 year old professional poker player from the U.S.A. He is in the top 10 on the all-time money list with over $45,700,000 in total live earnings. He has 4 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, his 1st came in a 2016 $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) event for $41,557, 2nd was a 2022 $10,000 Heads-Up NLHE (Online) event for $360,480, 3rd in a 2021 $7,777 NLHE Lucky 7s High Roller (Online) event for $283,940, and his 4th in a 2022 $100,000 High Roller Bounty NLHE event for $1,168,810.

Kristen Foxen is a Canadian professional poker player with over $7,300,000 in live tournament earnings. She has 3 WSOP bracelets, her first was from the $1,000 Ladies Championship Event in 2013 where she won $173,922 her second came from the $1,500 6-Max No-Limit Hold’em Bounty in 2016 where she $290,768, and her third was from a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max online event in 2020 where she won $356,412

The 2024 PokerGo Cup was a series of eight No-Limit Hold’em poker tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $10,000 – $25,000 played from January 25 to February 3, 2024 and held inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

$15,000 – 2024 PokerGO Cup Event #7 – Results

1st: David Peters ‘SilentAssassin’ U.S.A – $315,000 2nd: Kristen Foxen ‘krissyb24’ – Canada – $204,750 3rd: Brock Wilson – U.S.A – $141,750 4th: Daniel Smiljkovic ‘SmileThHero’ – German – $105,000 5th: Seth Davies – U.S.A – $78,750 6th: Morten Klein – Norway – $57,750

🔍 Preflop: As the shortest stack playing 3-handed, David Peters raises to 140,000 from the button with A9 of clubs. After PokerCoaching coach, Brock Wilson in the small blind folds, Kristen Foxen 3-bets to 450,000 from the big blind with A5o. Peters calls with his suited ace, and they head to the flop.

💸 Flop – As 9h 5s: A disastrous flop falls for Kristen. She has flopped top and bottom pair but is behind Peters’ top two pair. She fires a continuation bet of 250,000 and Peters sets the trap and just calls.

💣 Turn – 6d: The 6 of diamonds on the turn introduces a possible gutshot straight. Foxen fires a second barrel of 500,000 with her two pair. Peters smooth calls with two pair once more and they head to the river.

🌊 River – 8d: The front door flush draw misses on the 8 of diamonds river, but it does mean any seven now makes a straight. Will Foxen be scared of that straight and check? Or will she put Peters all-in? Stay tuned to the end of this poker video to find out!

WPH #511: WHAT Is He DOING???? [HUGE Blunder!]

Have you ever made a mistake at the poker table that haunted you forever? Well, I doubt that mistake cost you over $100,000! In this poker hand from the Hustler Casino live stream, J.R. and Hanks found themselves in a massive all-in pot preflop, and Hanks made an outrageous mistake that you will not believe!

Generally, when there is significant preflop action in front of you, like an early position open and a 3-bet, and you are holding a medium pocket pair, you must be very selective with your 4-bet all-in range. Even if you think the opener is loose, the 3-bettor will generally be strong and will only call you when you are crushed, so folding could be the better option.

Hustler Casino Live is a full-scale, high-value poker production. Close to a million dollars was spent transforming the casino’s high-limit poker room, the Crystal Room, into the set of this new state-of-the-art live show. Hustler Casino Live looks more like coverage of a TV broadcast sporting event and appeals to those beyond the poker community. Unscripted and unedited, they host regular poker streams such as ‘Max Pain Monday’ and ‘Thirsty Thursday’. Some of the most notable poker players to have appeared on the show are Phil Ivey ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’ ‘RaiseOnce’, Tom Dwan ’durrrr’, Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Chris Moneymaker, Doug Polk ‘WCGRider, Garrett Adelstein ‘Gman’, Tony Guoga ‘Tony G’ and many more.

This 24-hour poker stream took place on 1st December 2023 and aimed to be the first-ever 24-hour cash game live stream. Blinds started at $100/$200 with a $200 big blind ante but with straddles. Action was driven and stakes were raised with popular formats such as the stand-up game and the 72o game being played throughout the stream. This high stakes poker game featured players such as J.R., Matt Hanks, Nik Airball, Alan Keating, Brandon Stevens, Charles Yu, Professor, Andy Tsai ‘Andy Stacks’, Sashimi, Santosh Suvarna, Jboogs, Jibrael, Stanley Tang, Pennzoil Don, Pepe, and Mo.

No player played poker for the entire 24 hours, but Hanks played for the most at 19 hours, then Alan Keating with 16.5 hours closely followed by Nik Airball with 15.5 hours.

🔍 Charles raises to $6,000 from the hijack with A5o and faces a 3-bet to $18,000 by J.R. in the cutoff with pocket tens. Next to act on the button is Hanks who chooses to 4-bet rip his entire stack of $110,200 all-in with pocket nines. After the blinds and Charles fold, J.R. makes the call. The two high-stakes cash game poker players agree to run the board out twice, and what happens after the runouts will make your jaw drop.

You would be crazy to miss the outcome of this hand, so watch the entire poker video now!

WPH #510: He CAN’T BELIEVE This!!! [Fedor vs Jungleman]

Dan Cates and Fedor Holz, two titan poker players, faced off during PokerGo’s Game of Gold. A guaranteed bloodbath was ensured when they both flopped trip kings during this Sit & Go!

A big stack can look to keep short stacked players on a final table or a Sit & Go when there are significant ICM implications in play. By keeping them in the tournament they can bully the middling stacks who have to play extremely tight as they wait for the short stacks to bust.

Dan Cates also known as Jungleman is a 33 year old from the USA and is regarded by many as one of the best poker players in the world both online and live. He has played in all the high stakes poker cash games around the world for many years. He has over $12,000,000 in live tournament earnings, putting him in the top 80 on the all time money list. He famously won the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 Players Championships (regarded as one of the hardest poker tournaments to win) in 2021 and again in 2022.

Fedor Holz “CrownUpGuy” is a German professional poker player and a regular in high stakes poker tournaments all around the world. He has over $40,000,000 in live tournament earnings, putting him in the top 15 on the all-time money list. He also has 2 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets.

Filmed in Seoul, South Korea and hosted by experienced poker broadcaster Ali Nejad, Game of Gold combines high stakes poker with survival reality TV. Over the course of the 12 episodes, the sixteen participants competed across various poker formats, including Sit & Go’s, Heads-Up games, Indian Poker and a standard tournament poker game.

The poker players on the show included Daniel Negreanu “KidPoker”, Jason Koon, Fedor Holz “CrownUpGuy”, Kevin Martin, Kyna England, Josh Arieh, Daniel Cates “Jungleman”, Lukas Robinson “RobinPoker”, Nikita Luther, Charlie Carrel “Epiphany77”, Johan Guilbert “YoH ViraL”, Olga Iermolcheva, David Williams, Andy Tsai “Andy Stacks”, Michael Soyza, and Maria Ho.

In Round 1, a four-tier Sit & Go poker format, each team (spades, diamonds, hearts, and clubs) put a poker player into a separate round of four-handed poker action, with Game of Gold coins on offer for finishing first, second, third, or fourth. The rounds increased in the amount of coins that were offered, until the fourth ‘mystery’ round, where no-one knew how many coins were on offer. The team with the least Game of Gold coins at the end of all four Sit & Go’s would be eliminated.

The final six players competed in a winner-take-all format Sit & Go (SNG). This was unique as it meant there was no Independent Chip Model (ICM) pressure on any of the poker players.

Game of Gold Results

1st: Maria Ho – U.S.A – $456,000 2nd: Daniel Cates ‘Jungleman’ – U.S.A – $0 3rd: Johan Guilbert ‘Yoh Viral’ – France – $0 4th: Fedor Holz ‘CrownUpGuy’ – Germany – $0 5th: Kyna England – U.S.A – $0 6th: Josh Arieh – U.S.A – $0

🔍 Preflop: Fedor Holz opens to 120,000 from the cutoff with KJo. He finds one call from Dan Cates in the small blind with K9 of diamonds, and the two online poker legends, Jungleman and CrownUpGuy, head to the flop.

💸 Flop – As Kh Kc: Cates doesn’t know it yet, but his trips are dominated on this board by Holz, who holds a higher kicker. Cates checks to the preflop aggressor Holz, who decides not to continuation bet and checks it back to head to the turn.

💣 Turn – 6s: The 6 of spades on the turn introduces a backdoor flush draw. Cates bets 270,000 with his trip kings. Holz decides to just call with his trips, and they head to the river.

🌊 River – Tc: The ten on the river brings in the broadway straight possibility. Cates didn’t improve to a full house and will lose this pot if it goes to showdown. He bets 780,000 into Holz. How will the German professional poker player respond to this big bet? Will he fold, call, or raise to put Jungleman to the test for all of his remaining chips?

WPH #509: He QUITS After Nik Airball Does THIS!

Nik Airball could have his own highlight reel with his crazy plays, big pots, and outlandish celebrations. In this hand on Hustler Casino Live, Nik decides to blast away in the penultimate hand of the night against Pepe, who was already down over $300,000. How do you think this will go?

When deciding to raise from out of position against limpers, it’s advised to have a linear range. A linear range is one that contains strong, medium-strength and weak hands. It is also often referred to as a merged or condensed range. This means raising strong hands and those that could connect well with the flop, like broadways and suited connectors. Since opponents in position are likely to call, choosing hands that will have good board coverage is important to keep your range balanced.

Nik Airball is an investment banker and an amateur poker player, he occasionally plays at The Lodge Card Club but mainly plays on the Hustler Casino Live poker stream. He will play any stakes, and is often involved in heated table talk with the other poker players. Nik Airball is almost fluent in Mandarin, engaging in table talk with many Mandarin-speaking poker players. He often voices his strong opinions about current trends, topics and scandals in the poker world on social media and poker podcasts.

Pepe is introduced as a music producer and has appeared a few times on the poker stream playing up to $200/$400.

🔍Preflop: With the $400 straddle on, Pepe kicks off the action with a limp from the cutoff with Q9 of diamonds. Raymond calls from the big blind with pocket sevens, while French poker vlogger Yoh Viral calls from the third blind with 87o. Nik Airball decides to raise to $3,000 with T9o from the under-the-gun straddle. Pepe calls the raise with his suited two-gapper, and Raymond calls with his medium pocket pair. Yoh Viral folds, and they head to the flop three-way.

💸Flop – Ks Qc 2s: It’s a terrible flop for Raymond’s pocket sevens as two broadway overcards appear. After Raymond checks, Nik Airball fires out a continuation bet for $6,000 with his gutshot straight draw. Pepe calls with his second pair before Raymond correctly throws his cards into the muck, and they now head to the turn heads-up.

💣Turn – 3h: The 3 of hearts on the turn doesn’t bring in the flush or any straight draws. It also does not improve Nik Airball’s poker hand, but that doesn’t slow him down as he keeps up the aggression and fires an overbet of $30,000. The turn does not change Pepe’s pair of queens either, but his intuition is correct as he throws out the call to see a river card.

🌊River – 4s: The river is the 4 of spades, bringing in the front door flush. Nik Airball totally whiffs his gutshot straight and is left with just ten-high and a flush blocker. He isn’t going to give up; instead, he announces all in for the rest of Pepe’s $146,875, another massive overbet compared to the size of the pot. Pepe agonizes over this tough decision with just second pair against a hyper aggressive poker player. What does he eventually do? You’ll have to watch this poker video to find out if he calls or folds!

WPH #508: When GTO Poker Meets EXPLOIT! [Charlie Carrel vs Andy Stacks]

“”F#&K GTO” protagonist Charlie Carrel battled against cash game crusher Andy Stacks in the very first hand of a Sit & Go for GGPoker’s Game of Gold. Andy found himself in a tricky spot with pocket queens after a disastrous runout and an unorthodox line by Charlie.

In 3-bet pots, it’s usually best not to lead into the preflop aggressor, as their range will generally be stronger with hands like overpairs. However, if you anticipate your opponent will fold too much to a lead or not raise then you can do this with your more marginal holdings

Andy Tsai or “Andy Stacks” as he is more commonly known in the poker world is a popular professional poker player originally from Taiwan who currently resides in Los Angeles, United States. Over the last decade, Andy Stacks has established himself as one of the most recognizable poker faces on live poker streams playing regularly on ‘Hustler Casino Live’ and ‘Live At The Bike’. Andy is known for being an ambassador for GGPoker. He has a very calm and quiet demeanour at the poker table and was given his nickname “Andy Stacks” as he always has huge stacks of chips when playing in live cash games.

Charlie Carrel “Epiphany77” is a professional poker player from England and has over $9,600,000 in live tournament earnings with his biggest cash of £1,600,000 coming at a Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London in a £50,000 tournament. Charlie is a strong believer in live reads at the poker table and regularly explains his decision-making based on them. He is widely known to be against the Game Theory Optimal (GTO) approach to poker, often saying ‘F#&K GTO’ in his YouTube videos. Instead, he focuses on exploitable strategies. Charlie’s big break came in 2014 when he took down the PokerStars Sunday Million for over $200,000. He is good friends with high-stakes tournament poker player Ben Heath.

🔍 Preflop: In the opening hand of this Sit & Go, Charlie Carrel opens to 40,000 from the cutoff with pocket fives. Andy Stacks looks down at two red queens on the button and 3-bets to 110,000. After the blinds fold, Carrel calls with his small pocket pair.

💸 Flop – 7h 4h 6s: The seven-high flop with two hearts is great for Carrel, who flops an open-ended straight draw with his fives. He donk leads for 30,000 into the preflop aggressor Andy, whose pocket queens still remain an overpair on the low connected board. Andy also has a queen-high backdoor flush draw to go with his premium pair, prompting him to make the call.

💣 Turn – 8h: The 8 of hearts on the turn completes the flush, but it also gives Carrel the straight. He would upgrade to a straight flush if the 6 of hearts were to fall on the river. Carrel decides to bet 130,000, slightly under half-pot. Andy can’t be pleased with the appearance of this turn card, as many hands in Carrel’s range have now improved to beat him. Nonetheless, he calls again.

🌊 River – 5s: The 5 of spades on the river spells disaster for Carrel, as he’s now chopping the pot. However, Carrel attempts to scoop the entire pot and bets nearly the pot, firing out 550,000. Andy now has to decide whether to fold, call, or raise? Curious about what the high stakes cash game crusher will do? Watch this poker video to find out!

WPH #507: Does Nik Airball DESERVE This?????

There are some poker players we love to see on tilt, and Nik Airball might just be one of them! On Hustler Casino Live Airball gets himself into an awful spot, but can he somehow muster up the wizardry to find a way out or is he doomed into being put on mega tilt?

When you’re out of position with a strong combo draw such as a straight and flush draw, raising is usually preferred over calling. However, if you’re playing extremely deep-stacked and against multiple opponents, you should play more cautiously if your draw isn’t to the nuts.

Nik Airball is an investment banker and an amateur poker player, he occasionally plays at The Lodge Card Club but mainly plays on the Hustler Casino Live poker stream. He will play any stakes, and is often involved in heated table talk with the other poker players. Henry joins in from the cutoff with 98o, and Mars calls from the small blind with 86 of diamonds. Finally, Will defends from the big blind with T8 of hearts, and they head to the flop five ways.

💸 Flop – Qd 7h 5d: Mars checks after flopping an open-ended straight draw and an 8-high flush draw. Will checks with his backdoor flush draw, Nik opts not to continuation bet his top pair and checks. Raymond follows suit with his underpair, but Henry decides to fire out a bet of $500 with a gutshot straight draw to the nuts. Mars then check-raises to $2,100 with his huge combo draw. Will folds whilst Nik cold-calls the raise with his top pair and backdoor straight draw. Raymond folds, and Henry calls as three players head to the turn.

💣 Turn – 3h: The 3 of hearts on the turn isn’t one of the cards Mars needed to complete his draw, but that doesn’t slow him down as he continues his aggression by firing out a bet of $10,000. Nik, with his pair of queens has now also picked up a gutshot and opts to make the call as Henry folds. Both Mars and Nik are now heads-up to the river.

🌊 River – 4s: The 4 of spades on the river is the best possible card for Mars. Not only does it give him the nuts it also completes a disguised backdoor straight for Nik Airball. Mars now puts in a small bet of $8,000. Nik has to decide how to respond. Will he lean on the side of caution and just call, or put in a raise? WPH #506: Brad Owen TRAPS Mariano With QUADS!

There aren’t many better feelings in life than hitting quads at the poker table! When OG poker vlogger Brad Owen rivers quads against Mariano and EZ, he takes a crazy line in the hopes that his opponents will bluff into him. But will it work?

When the board is very wet & dynamic you should often bet larger with your value hands. The nuts will change by the turn or river if any straight or flush completing cards arrive which could result in you possibly having the 2nd best hand. Using larger bet sizes allows you to get more money into the pot whilst you still have an equity advantage.

Brad Owen is a WPT ambassador and co-owner of The Lodge Card Club in Texas, he is a very successful YouTube poker vlogger with over 715,000 subscribers. His YouTube channel has had over 172,000,000 views. Primarily a cash game player, Brad has started playing more poker tournaments since the start of 2022. His lifetime total live tournament winnings are over $790,000. WPH #505: Would YOU Believe Rampage Poker?

Rampage Poker is no stranger to monsters, be that monster pots, monster hands, or monster punts! Playing on Hustler Casino Live during a game of ‘Win The Button’, Rampage flops trips in a four-way pot and is delighted to see Jibrael lead into him; how will the poker vlogger win the maximum from this amateur player?

When you have a medium strength hand you should try your best to control the size of the pot by using smaller bet sizes. You do not want to unnecessarily bloat the size of the pot as you will often find yourself putting in a lot of money with either the worst hand or a hand that is very vulnerable to being outdrawn!

Ethan Yau, a.k.a Rampage, is a popular YouTuber and poker player. He has over 280,000 subscribers on YouTube and has won over $2,300,000 in poker tournaments, including a $900,000 win in a December 2022 World Poker Tour (WPT) High Roller at the Wynn.

Jibrael Hindi is introduced as an amateur poker player from America. He is a lawyer and professional bodybuilder. He has played over 10 times on the stream, mainly playing $25/$50/$100, but occasionally going up to higher stakes. He is over $69,000 in profit on Hustler Casino Live.

Some of the most notable poker players to have appeared on the show are Phil Ivey ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’ ‘RaiseOnce, Tom Dwan ’durrrr’, Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Chris Moneymaker, Doug Polk ‘WCGRider, Garrett Adelstein ‘Gman’, Tony Guoga ‘Tony G’ and many more.

The table is playing ‘Win The Button’, which means the player who wins the previous hand will be the button for the next hand.

🔍 Pre-Flop Action: Starting from under the gun and yet to win a chip during the stand-up game is Mike X with KQ of hearts, who opens to $300. It folds around to Mariano in the small blind and decides to call with 64 of hearts, prompting Jibrael to join the action with pocket sixes from the big blind. Rampage, also yet to win a chip during this round of the stand-up game, calls with Q8o in the straddle as they head to the flop four-way.

💸 Flop – 8d 8s 2h: The flop comes with two eights, which is gin for Rampage. After Mariano checks from the small blind, Jibrael takes the initiative in the hand and fires out $1,000. Rampage calls with his trip eights, while Mike X folds his two overcards and backdoor flush draw. Mariano quickly folds, leaving just two players that head to the turn.

💣 Turn – 2c: The turn brings a second deuce, creating a double-paired board and giving Rampage a full house, ensuring he will scoop the entire pot. Despite this, Jibrael makes an interesting choice to continue his aggression with his two pair and bets $3,000. Rampage, with eights full of twos, makes the call as they head to the river.

🌊 River – Jd: The river brings the jack of diamonds, adding another overcard to Jibrael’s pair of sixes. Undeterred, Jibrael bets $3,000 again. Rampage, still holding eights full of twos, now springs into action and raises to $20,000. Jibrael doesn’t immediately throw his hand into the muck as he notices Rampage is still in the stand-up game. Will this extra bit of information cause the bodybuilder to make a huge mistake? You’ll have to watch the entire poker video to find out!
